Jr. Sales Engineer

The Jr. Sales Engineer will serve as central point of contact between Washington Gas and the engineering and design community for new construction and renovation projects. The successful candidate will: leverage knowledge of end use equipment, utility infrastructure, and financial impact of energy choices to inform and influence key decision makers; review blueprints, plans and other customer documents to develop the piping and equipment design solutions necessary to meet the projects requirements; provide technical support to other sales staff on an as needed basis; and will also provide technical services to clients relating to use, operation, and economic impact of various gas utilization equipment. This position works directly with both internal and external construction activities to successfully manage and coordinate the installation of designed facilities.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical or other relevant Engineering degree. Ability to develop a working knowledge of local building and mechanical codes as they apply to gas-fired equipment and it installation. EIT certification and familiarity with Auto CAD or other engineering design software are a plus.

Designs and performs experiments in R&D to increase cost-efficiency of thin film solar cells even further by getting intimately involved with the material science and device physics of thin film solar cells by reading literature, processing thin film solar cells, performing characterization on thin film solar cells (individual layers and full
devices), collecting and analyzing data, and communicating results by
both writing reports and giving presentations. Attention for detail is a must. Focus on material science of individual layers is required. No industrial experience required. No thin film experience required, though preferred. This job provides you with the opportunity to work on various process steps in a laboratory environment, where taking initiative is a must, and effective communication with other scientists, mechanical engineers, process engineers, and technicians is required.
Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in material science, applied physics, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, or related disciplines.
